Management of the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu, North-East Region, has given its firmest assurance to partner the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) to help deliver on its mandate of providing critical healthcare support to people battling chronic non-communicable diseases.
According to hospital management, with a modest boost from GMTF, particularly in the areas of retooling and advanced training for medical staff, the facility would be well positioned to fully support the Trust Fund’s life-saving interventions.
The Baptist Medical Centre is the main referral hospital in the North-East Region, serving not only residents of the region but also patients from neighbouring regions and even countries bordering Ghana to the north.

Despite operating with just five medical doctors, the hospital attends to an average of *100,000 Out-Patient Department (OPD) cases and over 20,000 admissions annually*, a testament to both its critical importance and the immense pressure on its limited resources.
A delegation from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund visited the facility as part of its ongoing needs assessment tour of hospitals in the newly created regions.
The visit focused on evaluating capacity and exploring practical partnership arrangements aimed at expanding access to specialist care for vulnerable populations.
