Mothercare School Pupils Donate GH¢8,000 to Ghana Medical Trust Fund After National Call for Support

Pupils of Mothercare School in Accra have surprised the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) with a GH¢8,000 donation in response to nationwide calls for support to help retool specialist hospitals across the country.

The pupils, led by the school’s management, visited the offices of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund on Friday, December 12, 2025, specifically to present the donation and express their desire to support the Fund’s life-saving mandate.

The amount was raised through weekly Wednesday morning devotion offerings collected throughout the year—small coins saved by the children with the hope of helping to save the life of someone they may never meet. Their message was simple: they were from Mothercare School and were ready to partner MahamaCares to show love and compassion to the sick and vulnerable in society.

Leading the delegation, the Principal of Mothercare School, Madam Peace Abasah Addo, explained that the donation reflected the school’s long-standing culture of giving.

“What we are doing today is from the little coins our learners offer during Wednesday school worship. We put everything together and use it to reach out to the vulnerable every year. Today, we are here at the Ghana Medical Trust Fund to donate our widow’s mite, and we pray that this will give someone life one day,” she said.

Madam Addo told the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Ms. Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, that instilling the value of generosity in pupils is a core principle of the school.

“Reaching out to the vulnerable and the less privileged is a passion of the school, and we do this every year, especially in December. This year, we looked around for a place to support and decided to come to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund,” she noted.

Receiving the donation, Ms. Obuobia Darko-Opoku described the gesture as more than a financial contribution.

“This is love in action. It is compassion, hope, and kind”
